The Yamashita Hato Ika Set SS 5-1 is a ready-made rig for squid fishing from piers, breakwaters and the shore, fitted with three 5 cm Squish jigs with a luminous (glow) body. The Japanese name "hato ika" refers to squid fishing from harbour walls, and the set is meant as an easy start: the rig is short, 2 m in total, so it is easy to use even with shorter rods. The maker chose the luminous body as particularly effective for small squid.
The set comes in two versions. B-3 has the jigs on 10 cm side branches that swing freely in the water and attract squid naturally even when the rod rests in a holder. TB-3 has very short 1 cm branches next to the main line, so even a light squid bite is transmitted more clearly to the rod tip. The Squish body is soft, so the squid holds the jig longer.
