The Mares Star is a spearfishing mask with a silicone skirt and tempered glass lenses, from the Mares range of masks for spearfishing, recreational diving and snorkelling.
When choosing a mask the most important thing is that the skirt seals without leaking — hold the mask against the face without the strap and inhale gently through the nose; if it stays on the face, the seal is good. In addition, lower internal volume means less air spent on equalising during descent, which matters in freediving. Before first use the factory film should be removed from the lenses so the mask does not fog.
