The Ragot 30 g semi-sinking bombette works in the layer immediately below the surface, where a floating model sits too high and a sinking one drops away too quickly. That narrow band is often exactly where fish are feeding.
The 30 g weight determines both casting range and the rod it is used on — a medium-power rod. Bombettes are most often combined with soft plastics, a feather or natural bait on a longer leader, because it is the leader length that gives the bait back the freedom of movement the weight takes away.
