The Yamashita Squish 5-1 is a 5 cm soft squid jig with a single row of hooks, part of the Squish series from the Japanese maker Yamashita. It is a miniature version developed for smaller squid, in Japan mainly maruika and small kensaki squid, and it is intended for tataki fishing from a boat.
The "Squishy Body" feels soft like a small baitfish, so a squid that grabs it does not feel hard resistance and holds the jig longer, giving you more time to set the hook. The body is covered with Warm Jacket fabric, which absorbs and retains heat from sunlight or fishing lights and so comes closer to the temperature of live prey. The fabric wrap allows complex colour patterns that bare jigs cannot have, and the range of ten colours covers different water colour and light conditions.
