The Casted Deep Squid is a 180 cm boat rod with a stated load range of 40-100g, intended for squid fishing near the bottom. The blank is E-Glass, that is fibreglass rather than carbon — a deliberate choice here: fibreglass is heavier and slower, but it takes knocks, does not fail from fatigue and forgives a sharp strike, which is worth a lot on a boat and under heavy loads.
The tip is a solid fibreglass insert and is notably sensitive, so a squid's touch shows on the tip before it is felt in the hand. Beyond bottom squid fishing the rod is also used for trolling smaller species and for bolentino, that is anywhere a powerful rod with a very soft tip is needed.
