The Vikan 56233 shovel is a hygienic tool moulded from a single piece of polypropylene, with no joints or cavities where food residue and bacteria could collect. The 1035 mm overall length and the D grip allow two-handed work and pressure from above, so bulk material moves easily from container to container or is scraped off the bottom of a bin. The leading edge of the blade is bevelled, which helps to lift dried deposits.
The blue colour is part of Vikan's colour-coding system, used in HACCP plants and 5S programmes to stop cross-contamination between working zones. The smooth surface washes down quickly and polypropylene withstands the cleaning routines common in food production. The shovel is light, so it tires the user less over a long shift, and its symmetrical shape suits left- and right-handed operators alike.
