Momoi Diamond is a monofilament line for big game fishing, rated 230 lb on a 1000 yard spool, in Brilliant Blue. Momoi is a Japanese manufacturer whose lines are used when targeting large pelagic species, where a monofilament has to combine breaking strength, abrasion resistance and controlled stretch.
Unlike braid, monofilament has stretch that acts as a shock absorber during the sudden runs of a large fish and protects both the tackle and the leader, which is why it remains the standard choice in big game. A 1000 yard spool is intended for filling large reels for tuna fishing and trolling. Blue is the usual colour because it blends well with open water.
